Bildet viser bedriftens lager for spesialavfall. Dette er en type avfall som ikke kan destrueres og kasseres/lagres innen eget anlegg, og må derfor leveres til egne operatører inn den bransjen som på en forsvarlig og lovlig måte behandler avfallet slik at det ikke kan gjøre skade på liv eller miljø. Vanligvis ble denne type avfall levert 1 til 2 ganger årlig, og imellomtiden ble det lagret i dette bygget som var godkjent for formålet.
Bygningen i bakgrunnen til høgre er reservedelslager bygning 34 som vanligvis ble omtalt som anleggslager om byggets vestlige del og nya lageret i den østlige delen (den som vises på bildet).

Odda Smelteverk A/S ble stiftet 19.9.1924 og var en fortsettelse på fabrikkene Alby United Carbide Factories Limited (Sun Gas/karbidfabrikken) og North Westeren Cyanmid Company Limited (cyanamidfabrikken). Begge selskapene som stort sett hadde samme eiere, gikk konkurs og innstilte driften våren 1921.
BOC (British Oxygen Company Limited) eide Odda Smelteverk fra 1937 til 1998. Fra 1998 til konkursen i februar 2003 var Philip Brothers Chemicals Inc eier.
