Skallran har ingått i friherre Emanuel Thure Cederströms (1848 - 1920) samling på närmare 800 föremål, vilken testamenterades till Uppsala universitet år 1918. Större delen av samlingen överlämnades av honom sommaren före hans död år 1920. I samlingen ingick bland annat 144 arkeologiska fynd, 56 textilier, 20 möbler, 83 seldon och liknande föremål.
Emanuel Cederström levde hela sitt liv på Krusenberg, Alsike socken. Han var tidigt intresserad av bland annat konst, fornkunskap och historia. Han "var en glad givare", med donationer till Nordiska museet, Nationalmuseum och Upplands nation, m. fl. Blev medlem i Upplands fornminnesförening vid bildandet år 1869, var ledamot i styrelsen åren 1894 - 1918.
Enligt Museum Gustavianums katalog är skallran funnen vid dikning nära Husby kyrka (Husby-Ärlinghundra kyrka), Husby-Ärlinghundra socken, Uppland.
Skallran har ingått i Uppsala universitets samlingar. Uppsala universitets rektor Anders Hallberg beslutade den 16 november 2006 om överförandet av universitetets etnologiska samling (B-samlingen och EC-samlingen) till Upplandsmuseets samlingar. Den etnologiska samlingen flyttades den 8 december 2006 från Museum Gustavianums magasin i Husbyborg, Uppsala till Upplandsmuseets magasin i Morgongåva.
