År 1928 ritade Sven Thorell en mindre enmanskanot för pojkar. Den döptes till "Junior" och var som alla andra samtida kanoter tillverkad av fururibbor som kläddes med duk. Junior var 4,2 meter lång och 0,6 meter bred.
På begäran från sina kunder ritade Thorell år 1932 en något större variant av Junior. Den förlängdes till cirka 4,8 meter och bredden till 0,66. Detta räckte för att få en bärigare kanot för vuxna paddlare. Typen döptes till "Junior 1932". En komplett ritningsats kostade år 1933 fem kronor.
Ritningarna som följde med museets kanot såldes ursprungligen till en Åke Norell i Stockholm.
