Sivilansatt i Forsvaret ved 6. divisjons avdeling i Harstad. Flytta til Florø i 1976 etter at han vart pensjonert i 1975. Dotter og barnebarn kom til Florø i 1972. Er gravlagd i Florø.
I 1973 mottok Olaf Sørensen Det Kongelige Selskap for Norges Vel, medaljen for lang og tro tjeneste.
Verktøyet er nytta i hans arbeid knytt til daglig vedlikehald av bygningsmasse og i tillegg til dette privat.
