BOSSHARDT-ZEISS REDTA II DOUBLE-IMAGE REDUCTION TACHYMETER for use with a HORIZONTAL ROD.
Carl Zeiss Jena surveying instrument produced between 1927 to 1929 which replaced the innovative REDTA I from 1925. This REDTA II was replaced by the REDTA III (1929) & subsequently by the REDTA B in 1936 which remained in production in this form to the 1970's/early 1980's in Jena- all incremental improvements on the Swiss surveyor Rodolphe Bosshardt's design of a precise optical tacheometer particularly suited to cadastral surveying.by the method of polar co-ordinates.
