Høsten 2010 tok Norsk Maritimt Museum (Norsk Sjøfartsmuseum) i mot en viktig donasjon av tegninger, arkivmateriale, fotografier og gjenstander knyttet til Jan Herman Linges virksomhet som båtkonstruktør. Gaven er gitt av Tuva Løvland Linge, Linges kompanjong og styreleder i Jan H. Linge A/S. Med denne gaven fikk museet en betydelig kulturhistorisk og industrihistorisk samling som dokumenterer virksomheten til en av verdens viktigste båtkonstruktører i moderne tid.
Båtkonstruktør Jan Herman Linge er kjent både for sine seilbåter og motorbåter. Det er sjelden at samme konstruktør ble spesialist på begge deler. Mest berømt er han kanskje for OL-båtene Soling og Yngling. Linges nyskapende konstruksjoner har satt sitt preg på plastbåtindustrien fra 1960-årene, men han konstruerte flere trebåter før dette. Han konstruerte også den kjente motortorpedobåten Nasty for Sjøforsvaret på slutten av 1950-årene. Nasty ble senere NATO-våpen. Linges lystbåter er kjent for å ha navn med –ling på slutten, som Lærling, Smiling og Gambling.
