Fotografen Anders Beer Wilse var fast engasjert på turistskipene nordover i perioden 1905-1913.

D/S «Kong Harald» var et passasjer- og hurtigruteskip som ble overlevert Det Nordenfjeldske Dampskibsselskab (NFDS) i oktober 1890. Skipet ble byget ved det tyske verftet Joh. C. Tecklenburg i Geestemünde. NFDS hadde som tradisjon å navngi skipene sine etter norske herskere.
Skipet gikk i rute mellom Hamburg – Kristiansand – Vadsø om vinteren, og på turistcruise til Nordkapp om sommeren. Fra 1919 ble D/S «Kong Harald» satt inn i hurtigrutetrafikk, og var et av få hurtigruteskip som kom velberget gjennom Andre Verdenskrig.
I 1950 ble skipet avløst av de nybygde Italia-skipene, og i 1954 ble den hugget opp i Belgia.
