English: "Swedish Express" was camera designer Hugo Svensson's first camera. He began to build the model around 1893. Probably like a copy of the English firm Murers Express Camera. The camera was marketed by Hasselblad until 1925.
The price around 1900 was about 75 SEK. The model was also available for plates in size 6 x 9 cm and 9 x 12 cm well as the stereo version, and was called "Svenska Stereoskop Express".
The camera was donated to the museum by Helmer Bäckström in January 1939.
The camera has internal plate shifting. Six or twelve plates were placed in a holder of thin sheet metal and is set on edge. A conical coil spring is attached to the inside of the camera back and press the plates forward. The back cover is opened whereby the camera is loaded with plates. When a plate is exposed it will be released with a button on the outside, the plate falls to the bottom of the camera and the next sheet is pressed for exposure. Loading the plates and removing the plates were made in the darkroom. The camera has simple optics and rotating diaphragm, and separate button for distance setting.
