Den første bilruta Øvre Rendal-Hanestad ble startet i 1915 av Øvre Rendal kommune. Undseth Automobilselskap drev også rute på strekningen en periode. I 1927 ble ruta overtatt av Per S. Lillestu, og han kjørte også videre til Unset. Lillestu drev ruta til 1973 da Østerdal Billag overtok. Kilde: Norges rutebileieres forbund (NRF), Avdeling Hedmark: 1930-1955.
