Amfibiebil 101

  • This photo of a Stalwart driving in to the water is either a Swedish Alvis Stalwart (FV620) Amfibiebil 101 B, or a British Alvis Stalwart Mark 1 FV620 on display to Sweden. It is hard to tell because it looks the same as when it left the Coventry factory.

From this photo, we can identify it as a Mark 1 FV620 by the small corner windows of the cab, and the corrugated side boards. If the side boards were flat panels with the small windows then it would be a 101A. If the cab's corner windows were the bigger ones, then it would be a 101 C.

Sweden went on to fit Boughton hydraulic winches outside, on the front of the 101 B after they arrived in Sweden.

Some, if not all 6 of the 101 B had FOCO 4000 cranes fitted, which had the load bay canopy modified to also cover the stowed crane.

It is unclear if the winches and cranes were fitted by the kustartilleri workshops, or elsewhere.
