Maskinskrivet brev daterat Stockholm den 5 februari 1945
Herr Lektor Erik Arrhén, Uddevalla
Åberopande vårt samtal vid Edert besök på mitt kontor skänker jag med nöje den stora tigerhuden till Uddevalla Museum och har jag i dag som fraktgods avsänt densamma.
Orsaken varför jag dröjt så länge är att då tigerhuden för några år sedan hitkom, hade den inmonterat den verkliga skallen i densamma, men på grund av lukten lät jag uttaga denna och i stället ditsätta en attrapp av trä. Då tigerhuden nu emellertid skall uppsättas på museum, bör ju denna "träskalle" borttagas och i stället den verkliga skallen inmonteras, vilken jag samtidigt översänder. Ni torde bemärka, att ett par tänder lossnat och ligga dessa i ett särskilt konvolut, vilket Ni torde tillvarataga och tillse, att tänderna komma på rätt plats.
Professor Einar Lönnberg, som för några år sedan var chef för vertebratavdelningen i Riksmuseet, skulle gärna velat haft tigerhuden för uppstoppning, då han påstod, att det var den största tigerhud han någonsin sett, men dess värre hade konservatorn i Indien låtit skära bort en del av buken på båda sidor, då denna alltid på ett sådant stort djur blir mer eller mindre hårlös och då han hade tänkt, att jag skulle ha den som matta, hade han låtit skära bort delar på båda sidor, vilket ju gör, att den ej passar till uppstoppning, men kan väl fylla sin plats såsom dekoration på en vägg.

Jag översänder härmed brev, som jag idag fick från skeppsredare And. Smith. Det talar för sig själv.
Det var roligt, att det blev något av med det hela. Jag skrev till Honom i ärendet senast den 23/12 44 [23 dedember 1944] och det tog skruv.
Slit nu tigern med hälsan och måtte nu också museibyggnaden följa sen i spåren!
