Drogeprøve fra Norsk Farmasihistorisk Museum.
Drogesamlingene ble brukt til undervisning av elever («disipler») i apotek, før de regulære universitetsstudier for farmasi kom i gang i Norge i 1931. Farmasøyten måtte kjenne til drogenes form og lukt for å kunne identifisere og bestemme kvaliteten av innkjøpte droger. Det var da sikrest å sammenligne med en garantert drogeprøve. Samlingene omfattet primært de drogene som var omtalt i farmakopèen.
Farmasimuseets drogesamling stammer dels fra Elefantapoteket, Oslo (opprettet 1672) og Løveapoteket, Tønsberg (opprettet 1732). De ble levert fra firma E. Merck, Darmstadt, Tyskland, ant ca 1920.
Drogeprøver i denne standardiserte formen (sylinderformet glass med sort celluloid lokk) ble tilbudt av Merck fra 1902 og besto av 279 glass med forskjellige droger. Fra 1938 ble det laget en ny kolleksjon med samme type glass og lokk, men med annen type etikett. Denne samlingen besto av 290 ulike droger.
