Bordebelet er funne i skifte attende til andre halvdel av 1700-talet. Noss (2005, s58) skriv at bordebelta var litt mindre stas enn sølvbelte. Skulle m.a brukast av brura første gong ho "synte seg kone". Då skulle det vere sneatrøye/svartetrøye med sølvbelte eller bordebelte og roseforkle, skriv Noss.
