Født på Helle ved Kragerø, død i Sandefjord. Sønn av Kirsten Marie og Jørgen Nilsen, gift 1908 med Charlotte Speilberg (1885-), datter av Ella og Christoffer Garmann S., 1 sønn, 1 datter. Gikk i lære hos broren Nils Carl N. i Dakota, USA, startet i 1904 eget atelier sammen med broren Jørgen og i 1908 atelier sammen med broren Even i Alberta i Canada. I mellomtiden hadde han vært hjemme i Norge og giftet seg. I 1912 kom både han og Even tilbake til Norge og startet i 1913 atelier i Kragerø "Brødrene Jørgensen", ved at de overtok atelieret etter A. F. Johansen (startet 1894). I 1927 flyttet Ole Peter til Sandefjord, løste sv.br. og håndv.br. og startet eget firma der 1.2.1927 i Jernbanealléen, fra 1934 i Kongensgt. 22. Dette drev han til sin død i 1946. Det ble da overtatt av datteren Margareta Sofie Wang (1915-) og sønnen Richard A. (22.5.1914-). Han var en oppriktig kristen og ivrig i indremisjonsarbeidet i Sandefjord, også ivrig seiler, musikkvenn m. m. I 1989 ble "Brødrene Jørgensen"s arkiv overtatt av fotograf Jan Hasseleid, Kragerø. Arkivet har 90.000 bilder fra Jørgensen-familiens egen virksomhet, og i tillegg 10.000 bilder fra forgjengeren, Frk. Børresen.
