Katta er originalt skåret i tre, og her støpt i bronse. Skulpturen er laget etter modell av den virkelige Ringkatta, som folket i Ringstu holdt.
Nils Aas voks opp som nærmeste nabo til Ringstu, og brukte å leke med katta. Den var opplært til forskjellige triks, som høydehopp.
En bronseskulptur av Ringkatta står i Muustrøparken like ved Ringstu.
