• Bur ("Veslebur") fra Bekkhus, Manndal i Seljord dat. 1692.

THE BEKKHUS STOREHOUSE
From Bekkhus, Manndal, Seljord. Constructed in 1692. Rebuilt at the museum in 1930.

The storehouse is an ancient type of house in this country. It was used for the storage of food, like meat, grain, flour etc. This is the reason for the storehouses being raised on legs, so that rats and mice could not get in.

Because of the practice of laying the dead in the storehouse during the time between death and burial, it could also be called "likbur", or mortuary.
