Joranger kirke ble oppført rundt 1600 og erstattet en tidligere stavkirke på stedet. Kirken har et rektangulært skip og et noe smalere og lavere kor, samt et tårn i vest. Kirken er av laftet tømmer og er utvendig bordkledd og hvitmalt.
Kirkerommet bærer i stor grad preg av 1600- og 1700-tallet. Veggene i skipet og koret er dekket av ranke- og draperimalerier, og bjelkene har malte sitater. Korskillet ble utvidet i 1708-10 og har samme type balustre som i alterringen og presteskolen på nordsiden av koret. Altertavlen er en renessansetavle i to etasjer med tekstfelt rammet inn av kannelerte pilastre og beslagornamentikk. Vingene er utsveifete med kransmotiv rundt jesusmonogram. Prekestolen er fra byggetiden og har fire fag adskilt med rundbuede portaler, adskilt av kannelerte pilastre.
