- Folgefonngata er den andre gata i Odda som blei ferdig i tråd med byplanen frå 1907. Gata er oppkalla etter isbreen Folgefonna. Ho går frå Kremarvegen til ho stoppar ved Opheimsgata. Folgefonngata heitte først Dr. Boyds gate, og var oppkalt etter engelskmannen Dr. Henry Boyd som i ein førtiårsperiode hadde besøkt Odda kvar sommar for å fiska laks. Han hadde gjeve Odda pengegåver og hadde sitt eige hus ved Hotel Hardanger. Fram til 1906 dreiv garden Bakke tradisjonelt jordbruk på bøane der Folgefonngata blei lagt. Gardstunet låg omlag der som «gården» til Murboligen er, men husa blei rivne eller flytta alt i 1907. På garden var det også planta ein frukthage og den ser vi truleg spor av i hagen til Folgefonngata 9. Dei store epletrea der er riktig gamle.
