Gjenstanden tilhører Musea i Nord-Østerdalens egen samling, med museumssignatur NØT.
Blant Museas oppgaver er å ta «særlig ansvar for samtid og nær fortid», noe som i praksis skiller denne samlingen fra de øvrige i Nord-Østerdalen. I tillegg skal samlingen fylle ut tomrom i samlingene til lokalmuseene i området uavhengig av tid, det vil si temaer og objekter som av ulike grunner ikke er dokumentert godt nok eller der nye perspektiver har gitt andre prioriteringer i museumsarbeidet. Noen eksempler på slike temaer er barndom, minoriteter, mangfold, byutvikling, næring og industri i etterkrigstiden. Samlingen har også blitt til gjennom innsamling til konkrete utstillinger om alle slags temaer gjennom årenes løp.
Det er med andre ord et stort spenn i samlingen som helhet, både tidsmessig og tematisk, men det aller meste er fra 1940 til i dag. Gjenstandene kan geografisk knyttes til hele Museas område, det vil si de seks kommunene i Nord-Østerdalen.
Musea i Nord-Østerdalen ble stiftet 1. juni 1992, med en organisasjonsmessig forløper som ble etablert i 1976. Musea holder til på museumssenteret Ramsmoen på Tynset.
