Det välarbetade Luciasmycket av exklusiva material är ett viktigt föremål kring en tradition som blivit av betydelse i Sverige. En modern tradition som alltmer tog fart under 1920-talet. Stockholms Dagblad utlyste det första "luciavalet" 1927, en tävling om Stockholms Lucia som blev mycket populär med många sökande, och med stort intresse från Stockholmarna. Det hela följdes även som riksnyhet i tidningarna. Snart utlystes även luciatävlingar i många svenska städer och större samhällen. Lucia med sitt följe firades också i skolor, arbetsplatser och såsmåningom förskolan.

Lucia kröntes med luciakrona och fick ett smycke i gåva. Det här sortens smycke gavs till respektive Stockholms Lucior under åren 1948-1956 (enl. studier av luciaporträtt från tiden. Smycket var en personlig gåva. Detta smycke är från 1950 och Lucian hette Elisabeth Meyerhöffer. Hon hade vunnit Stockholms-Tidningen Luciaomröstning och blev Stockholms Lucia 1950.
Hänget är ett kombinationssmycke, som med medföljande specialverktyg (NM.0332054C skruvmejsel) och monterbar nål och fäste (NM.0332054D+) kan göras om till brosch. På hängets baksida, under ovandelens bågar, sitter en liten skruv som går att skruva bort med hjälp av specialverktyget, där fästes nålen (gängas fast) och fästet nertill.
