Komse, samisk vugge, laget av en trauformet uthult trestamme, bredere oventil enn nedentil, trukket med barket reinskinn og ved hodeenden utstyrt med en faststående kalesje av barket skinn over bøyde trespiler. Fra kalesjens forkant går sterke, vevde bånd og snorer ned til fotenden og tar av for støt under bæring og reiser. I komsen ligger barnet snørt omhyggelig ned i kluter og fine skinn (reinkalv, hare, lam) på et underlag av hvitmose eller lange, myke reinhår fra njávvi, altså fra halshårene på reinen, samt tørket knusk fra morknet bjørk, og kan være ute også i sterk kulde. En komse kan, med barnet i, fraktes i pulk eller kløv, henges opp på en gren eller stilles på ende ned i snøen, mens moren utfører sitt arbeid. (Kilde: Store norske leksikon.)
