Postkort med motiv som viser utsikt over Harstad sentrum, med fartøyer ved dampskipskaia i bakgrunnen.
Det store hvite skipet er M/S "Stella Polaris". Det er svært sannsynlig at bildet viser skipets anløp av byen, den 11. juni 1929, med Fridtjof Nansen ombord. Under oppholdet i byen holdt Nansen samme dag foredrag på et friluftsstevne i Parken i regi av Fedrelandslaget. Av Harstad Tidendes referat fra begivenheten fremgår det at et flaggsmykket D/S "Haalogaland" møtte "Stella Polaris" i Tjeldsundet som en hyldest til Nansen, slik det samme skipet hadde tatt imot "Fram" den gang Nansen vendte tilbake fra Nordpolsferden i 1896 (og deretter slept "Fram" sydover). Det lille hvite skipet vi ser på denne siden av "Stella Polaris" i bildet er nettopp D/S "Haalogaland".
