- Den ukrainske krigsfangen Vasili Rambovski rømte fra Moan leir på Levanger i høsten 1944, men etter to kalde vintre vandrende alene rundt omkring i skogen ble han oppdaget i et fjøs i Bymarka i Trondheim, livredd, avmagret og kledd i filler. Bildet ble tatt denne dagen i 1947, da han ble hentet av politiet og sendt til sykehus. Han visste ikke at krigen var over.

Rambovski ble født inni en bondefamilie i landsbyen Rybki i Ukraina i 1918. Han giftet seg med Petronja i 1938. De fikk to barn som begge døde som spedbarn. Han ble innkalt til tjeneste i Den røde arme under 2. verdenskrig, og stasjonert nær grensen til Polen, men ble tatt til fange og sendte til en fangeleir i Tyskland, der han ble brutalt behandlet. Senere ble han sendt til Levanger som hestepasser i Moan leir.
Høsten 1944 klarte han og to andre russerfanger å rømme fra leiren. De dro til skogs og satte kursen mot Sverige, men ble innhentet av tyske soldater. Begge kameratene ble skutt, men Rambovski unnslapp. Han visste ikke hvor han var og levde på bær og fugler. Han vandret rundt i skogen og havnet til slutt i Bymarka i Trondheim. Han levde i skogen helt til våren 1947. Da ble han funnet i et fjøs og innbrakt av politiet. Rambovski var livredd og visste ikke at krigen var slutt.
Rambovski ble så innlagt på isolat på Reitgjerdet psykiatriske sykehus. En delegasjon fra Sovjet kom for å hente ham hjem, men han nektet å bli med dem og sa han var polakk. I desember 1948 ble Rambovski skrevet ut fra sykehuset og kom i pleie som dreng på flere gårdsbruk i Trøndelag. Han var plaget av angst, og folk som ikke kjente hans historie så på ham som en gal og farlig mann. Til slutt stakk han til skogs igjen. Han ble innhentet av politiet flere ganger, men stakk stadig av igjen. Han ble innlagt på Rotvoll psykiatriske sykehus, men var redd og deprimert og rømte.
I 1962 ble han stilt for retten for rømninger, innbrudd og tyverier i hytteområdene rundt Levanger. Han ble dømt til 5 års sikring. Under rettssaken møtte han Birgitte som han giftet seg med og fikk datteren Anita. Familien var bosatt i Lillehammer. Rambovski var traumatisert av opplevelsene under krigen og slet med psykiske problemer. Han ble igjen innlagt ved Reitgjerdet sykehus. Ekteskapet tok slutt.
Etter fire år på Reitgjerdet flyttet Rambovski tilbake til Levanger og jobbet på gård. De som kjente ham beskriver ham som en intelligent og snill mann. I 1970 fikk Rambovski norsk statsborgerskap og krigspensjon. Han kjøpte seg et småbruk på Nesset i Levanger og begynte med kaninoppdrett. Journalisten Tore Strømøy fattet interesse for Rambovskis historie og hjalp ham med å spore opp gjenlevende familie i Ukraina. Sommeren 1992 skulle han få reise tilbake til hjembyen og treffe familien, men døde kun få dager før reisen, 74 år gammel.
