I 1959 ble Grundsetmart’n avviklet fra tirsdag 3. til lørdag 7. mars. Arrangørene lokket med hestehandel på Nybakk og Elverum gjestgiveri, skinnomsetning med gode priser, samt utstillinger og demonstrasjoner av forskjellig moderne utstyr for så vel jord- og skogbruk som for husholdningene. Man la opp til mye folkeliv, blant annet med tivoli, der det var spøkelsestog, latterkabinett og konkurranseaktiviteter (ball- og pilkast). Videre var det salg av husflid og av tradisjonelle mart’nsvarer som sild, honningkake, varme pølser, buljong, ballonger og den slags. Kaféene i kommunesenteret Leiret lokket med rimelig mat og drikke dagen lang, og på hotell Central og på Gråberg var det dans og underholdning på kveldstid. Også den kommunale kinoen bidro med en variert filmmeny. Viltstellkonsulent Arne Gabrielsen holdt populærforedrag fra arbeidsfeltet sitt. Jernbanen satte opp ekstratog fra Koppang i nord og fra Kongsvinger i sør. Men værgudene var ikke spesielt samarbeidsvillige. Det regnet på flere av mart’nsdagene, og både aktørene og publikum ble både våte og sølete.

Barnet var kledd i svart regnfakk og hadde sydvest i samme materiale på hodet, noe som nok kunne komme vel med, for i 1959 regnet det stadig under mart'n. I bakgrunnen skimter vi ei scene, der en mann med hatt på hodet sto framfor et mikrofonstativ. Ved siden av denne mannen skimter vi deler av et lykkehjul.
Dette fotografiet er tatt av Kjell Søgård, som i fra midten av 1950-åra til han tidlig i 1970-åra ble alvorlig sjuk og døde, var fotograf med avisa Østlendingen som hovedoppdragsgiver. Søgård leverte også film og bilder til Norsk Skogbruksmuseum. Han gjorde blant annet opptakene til kulturhistoriske dokumentasjonsfilmer om eikebarkfletting (1965), grindalsfluefiske (1966), hankekjøring av tømmer (1967) og tømmerfløting i Arendalsvassdraget (1970). Søgård leverte dessuten stillfotografier til museets utstillinger og publikasjoner. Hans personlige interesser var sammenfallende med museets tematikk. Alt fra ungdomsåra var Kjell Søgård en ivrig jeger, og som voksen jaktet han elg, rein, rådyr, småvilt og fugl. Etter hans død overlot kona Jenny og dattera Vera negativarkivet etter Kjell Søgård til Norsk Skogbruksmuseum (som fra 2003 har vært drevet under navnet Norsk Skogmuseum). Materialet ble forsvarlig arkivert i museets magasin, men det var i mange år lite brukt. I samband med forberedelsene til den nye basisutstillingen om jakt, ferskvannsfiske og sanking («Tråkk i mangfoldig natur», 3. byggetrinn) ble Søgård-samlinga gjennomgått, og man fant mange motiver som ble brukt i utstillingen. Vi oppdaget også en god del andre kulturhistorisk interessante motiver, som ble skannet og registrert i museets elektroniske fotodatabase. Det vil imidlertid ta lang tid før hele Søgård-samlinga er å finne i denne databasen (BB 2016).
