Til høyre den nye Post- og telegrafstasjon med parkanlegget.
Her stod tidligere kjører Ole M. Halvorsens hus, senere postkontorets pakkavdeling, og Tore Larsens hus, bygget av Thomas Sørenser. De første årene eiet Sørensen og Larsen en halvdel hver til 1900 da Tore Larsen kjøpte den andre halvdel.
Nordenfor sees Sørhauggt. nr. 165 tilhørende kjøbmann Paul Paulsen som kjøpte det av kjøbmann Ola Aalmo. Baker Hans Knut Olsen (Hans Knut baker) eide det i sin tid. Nordenfor hvor Paulsen har cykkelforretning stod skomaker Hamres hus. På hans eiendom - tvers over kvartalet til Skåregaten stod også en del gamle hus, som hadde vært garveri, og i mange år huset "slakthuset". Kommunen kjøpte alt sammen, rev husene og laget Central Holdeplassen.
Det store trehus er Sørhauggaten nr. 169 bygget av skibsreder Carl Foss, senere var det "Folkets Hus", eies nå av kommunen og brukes som stasjonshus for Karmøybanen og H.S.R. i forbindelse ned Centralholdeplassen.
