I grund och botten är de medmänskligt varma sysslorna väl desamma, men i ett ständigt föränderligt samhälle hänger diakonin med i utvecklingen. Diakonen Anette Kyhlströms bok "Offer på en sekund" (2004) ger en modern inblick, fastän samhället även sedan dess har förändrats en del - och tyvärr hårdnat.
