Det er festdag, antagelig byens 50-årsdag som ble feiret 3. mars 1916.
Til venstre sees Strandgata nr. 155 bygget av baker Samuel Olsen, som solgte det til kjøpmann Erik Jacobsen. Det eies nå av hans sønn Andreas Jacobsen.
Hjørnehuset til høyre er Strandgata nr. 162 bygget av kjøpmann T. H. Hansen. H. M. Wrangell & Co. hadde kontorer her til 1936. Senere eiere var skipsreder H. K. Waage og Haugesunds Privatbank. Det ble revet i 1936/-37 da Bergens Privatbank bygget nytt hus på tomten.
Nedenfor sees Torggata nr. 2, den tidligere kommunale administrasjonsbygning bygget i 1911 av kommunen. Postkontoret og Telegrafen hadde i mange år sine lokaler her.
