Huvudpostkontoret, på ritningen ovan, får anses vara främsta verket av arkitekt Ernst Torulf (1872-1936). Alternativt framhålls Naturhistoriska museets byggnad vid Slottsskogen (1923) och Göteborgs högskola (1907). Hans stil var trots relativt släta murar tämligen pompös. Till hans minne namngavs år 1945 Ernst Torulfsgatan i stadsdelen Kålltorp, inte långt ifrån det av honom ritade Renströmska sjukhuset.
