Utgravningen er en del av E18-prosjektet Langåker-Bommestad. På Seierstad østre, gnr 2037 bnr.7,8,9, Larvik kommune ble det i 2005 undersøkt til sammen 1840 m2. Under registreringen ble det undersøkt tre strukturer tolket som graver og tre ildsteder. Det ble gjort funn av mulig bøyle av fibula, leirkarskår, brent leire, brente bein m.m (Rødsrud 2003). I området er det tidligere blitt gjort funn av en ryttergrav (Braathen 1989), undersøkelser av en annen gravhaug og steinalderlokalitet ble foretatt i 1986 av P.O. Nybruget, Id-nr. 89588.
Under utgravingen i 2005 ble det funnet fire fotgrøfter, rester av minst tre langhus fra førromersk jernalder, ildsteder og kokegroper. Det ble gjort funn av keramikk, bryner, brent leire/leirklining, slagg, flint og bergartsøkser. Det er tatt ut 8 makrofossilprøver og 11 kullprøver.
Lokaliteten lå på en bakketopp med god utsikt mot syd. Undergrunnen besto i hovedsak av sand og sandblandet silt og en del stein opp til 0,5 m. Det ble dokumentert 175 strukturer, rundt 100 ble grundig undersøkt. Mange strukturer ble avskrevet som steinopptrekk og moderne hendelser som pløyespor og grøfter. Det ble brukt 60 dagsverk på lokaliteten, i tillegg kom 10 dager med gravemaskin.
