Funnene i museumsnummer C62209-C62213 er innkommet ved arkeologisk utgravning av tre lokaliteter som følge av anlegging av ny trase for rv. 36 Skyggestein-Skjelbredstrand i Skien kommune, Vestfold og Telemark fylke. Flere lokaliteter i traseen var allerede kjent, og ble kontrollregistrert sammen med registrering av øvrig trase av daværende Telemark fylkeskommune i 2012-13 (Svendsen 2014). Utgravningen ble utført av Kulturhistorisk museum for Statens vegvesen i perioden 9.5.-12.8.2016, hovedsakelig i form av maskinell flateavdekking/avtorving i utmark (Wenn 2022).
Den arkeologiske undersøkelsen omfattet et hovedfelt beliggende i en nordvestvendt skråning med naturlige terrasser i grov morenegrunn. Totalt ble det avtorvet 5445 m2. På den øvre, østlige terrassen lå gravfeltet id 29972, registrert som én stor (C62209) og to mindre, tomme gravhauger, mens det ble påvist ytterligere ett gravminne i form av en todelt steinsetting (C62211). Id 135869 var opprinnelig registrert som én gravhaug (C62210) beliggende nede i en skråning ca. 60 m lengre vest. En delvis oppbygget hustuft (C62212) beliggende på en terrasse mellom disse gravminnene ble påvist under avtorvingen, og er inkorporert i id 135869. Det ble videre påvist kokegroper, rydningsrøyser og steinansamlinger tilhørende begge lokaliteter, som sammen med de to tomme gravhaugene og hulveien (id 174130) er katalogisert under C62213. Hovedaktivitetsperioden for graver og hustuft har vært i folkevandringstid.
C62213 omfatter funn og prøver fra resterende anlegg tilknyttet undersøkelsen. Anleggene ble undersøkt med en blanding av maskinell utgravning og manuell finrensing. De to små gravhaugene A1000 og A5000 inneholdt ikke rester av gravlegging eller indre konstruksjoner. Kokegropene var spredt i sørlig del av det undersøkte området, under og omkring gravhauger og røyser. Enkelte røyser var tydelige rydningsrøyser med opplagt stein mens andre var mer utflytende i form. Tre steinpakninger lå tett opptil gravhaug A3000. Det er uklart hvor mange av disse steinansamlingene som var faktiske rydningsrøyser, og hvilke(n) funksjon(er) de øvrige eventuelt hadde.
Hulveien er dokumentert i historisk tid. På bakgrunn av sin plassering mellom Solum kirke og gravfeltene på Gravklev, er det antatt at bruken går tilbake til forhistorisk tid. Dette kunne ikke belegges arkeologisk eller ved radiologiske dateringer. Samtlige funn gjort med metalldetektor var moderne og ble kassert. De radiologiske dateringene ga sprikende resultat, og avspeiler trolig variert bruk av området i forhistorien og moderne tid.
Kokegropene stammet fra førromersk jernalder og til dels yngre bronsealder, mens øvrige anlegg fremviste sporadiske radiologiske dateringer fra neolitikum til nyere tid, noe som trolig avspeiler aktivitetsspor i området, snarere enn datering av de enkelte kulturminnene.
Et utvalg på 18 kullprøver gjennomgikk enkel vedartbestemmelse ved Moesgaard Museum og ble radiologisk datert ved Laboratoriet för 14C-datering, Lunds Universitet. Analyseresultatene finnes i rapporten (Wenn 2022).Funnet: 2016
