Funnene er innkommet ved arkeologisk undersøkelse i forbindelse med omregulering av tiltaksområdet til næringsvirksomhet. Området ble registrert av daværende Østfold fylkeskommune i 2009, og det ble påvist automatisk fredete bosetningsspor (Brattekværne 2010). Kulturhistorisk museum gjennomførte undersøkelsen i tidsrommet 4.–29.10.2021. Ved maskinell flateavdekking ble det åpnet et område på 4907 m2 og påvist 552 strukturer, hovedsakelig kokegroper, ildsteder og stolpehull, fra yngre bronsealder til folkevandringstid. Funn og prøver fra lokaliteten er katalogisert under museumsnummer C64128 (generelt), C64129 (hus 1) og C64130 (hus 2).
I tillegg til tre treskipete langhus ble det på lokaliteten påvist 30 kokegroper, fire kullflekker, sju nedgravninger og 391 ikke nærmere definerte anlegg, som omfattes av museumsnummer C62128. Bruken av kokegropene har hovedsakelig vært i overgangen fra yngre bronsealder til førromersk jernalder, og yngre romertid-folkevandringstid. Vedartsbestemmelse av 14 kullprøver er utført av Jannie Koster Larsen ved Moesgård Museum; samtlige er radiologisk datert ved Tandemlaboratoriet, Uppsala Universitet.
