Hjelm som del av uniform og utrustning knyttet til Bataljon 99, som er navnet brukt i Norge for 99th Infantry Battalion (Separate), opprettet i USA, 10. juli 1942. Hjelmen var del av utstillingen "Minne frå ein krig", som krigsveteran John Pettersen fra Sylta, Radøy i Alver kommune, var viktig del av. Pettersen var sjømann da krigen brøt ut i 1939, han gikk i land i New York og meldte seg til tjeneste for de allierte styrker. I 1943 ble han innkalt til å delta i Bataljon 99 i det amerikanske forsvaret.
"Vi bar hjelmen til alle tider og brukte han til og med som vaskefat og toalett": John Pettersen.
