- Maskinen är tillverkad av lantbruksdirektör Carl Hultenberg med hjälp av gårdssmeden Carl Engelholm någon gång strax efter år 1860, för att underlätta arbetet med disken i det stora hushållet på Borgholms kungsgård, vilken Carl Hultenberg arrenderade. Maskinen blev dock inte så uppskattad i köket , då det tog för lång tid att sätta tallrikar och glas på sina respektive klämmor i diskmaskinen. Förutom diskmaskinen tillverkade han ett kvarnhjul vilket skulle fungera även då vattennivån är väldigt låg, en saftpress, en modell till brandstege vilken han patenterade 1882 samt en korvstoppningsmaskin för att underlätta kvinnors arbete i köket, eftersom han tyckte att de brukliga maskinerna var otympliga. I det brev som följde med diskmaskinen till museet står det även att läsa att Hultenberg "var en man med ett stort behov av att förbättra maskiner och redskap", han var också "en ovanligt verksam och framsynt man", han var 3 alnar och 3 tum lång, och "även oerhört stark". Han "kunde hålla en hästs båda bakben - ett under vardera armen - så lång tid, som smeden behövde för att sko hovarna".
