Nils Persson var född och uppväxt på torpet Ballri, en bit från Övre Stortorpet, Till verkstaden där gick han så gott som dagligen som barn och där blev han som 14-åring lärling under Samuel och Karl Johanson som lärde honom att dreja. 1928 blev han fast anställd och arbetade i verkstaden fram till och med 1956. Då öppnade han en egen keramikverkstad på Höjdgatan i Arvika.
Nils Persson är mest känd för sina teserviser. Han använde gärna vit tennglasyr på insidan av kopparna, vilket gav dem ett ljust och stilrent intryck. Han tillverkade även krukor och vaser och använde då gärna lerkross längs kanterna på dem. Dekoren var robust.
Brodern Sven, född 1922, var även han keramiker och arbetade periodvis på Övre Stortorpet. Under 1950-talet hade han en verkstad på Sågmon. Han drabbades dock av MS och avled 1974.
