- Gjemnes kirke, som ble innviet i 1893, er en tidstypisk langkirke i panelt laft med tårn i vest og kor i øst. Kirken ble bygd av Chr. Hovde fra Kristiansund etter tegninger av arkitekt J. W. Nordan. Kirken ligger i nærheten av Tinghaugen, som var tingsted i det gamle Gjemnes tinglag. En stor steinhelle som hadde vært tingbord, og som lå hundre meter nordøst for tomten der kirken skulle bygges, ble hugget opp og brukt i kirkens grunnmur. Gjemnes kirke er en treskipet langkirke med smalere kor. Innvendig er den rikt utformet med bjelkekonstruksjoner og løvsagdekor. Kirken ble pusset opp i 1963, og fargesettingen ble gjort av Olav Halse. Øverst på veggene i det opphøyde midtskipet er det dekor med malte engler. Altertavlen har omramming i nygotikk stil, og alterbildet viser Jesus som berger den tvilende og synkende Peter på Genesaret sjø. Under bildet står skriftstedet ”Herre, frels mig”. Bildet er malt av kunstmaler og salmaker Conrad Edvard Waleur fra Kristiansund i 1893, og er antagelig en kopi etter et maleri av Plockhorst.
