Hove kirke er en romansk kvadersteinkirke med et rektangulært skip og et noe smalere og lavere kor som har en (trolig sekundær) apsidal avslutning. På 1880-tallet ble det tømrete tårnet i vest erstattet av et kvadratisk steintårn. Kirken ble trolig oppført rundt midten av 1100-tallet, og ble gjennomgående restaurert av Peter A. Blix etter at han kjøpte kirken i 1880.
Interiøret er preget av Blix’ restaureringer. All veggdekor og inventar er tegnet av ham, slik han tenkte kirken kunne ha sett ut i middelalderen. Brystningen har imitert kvadermurverk og over dette har veggene gotiske bladranker i border og stiliserte blomster, i sterke farger. Korets halvkuppelhvelv er malt i kraftig blått med stjerner, sol og måne. Ikke noe av middelalderens opprinnelige inventar er bevart.
