Kviteseid gamle kirke er en steinkirke fra 1200-tallet. Kirken har et rektangulært skip med smalere og lavere kor med halvrund apsis. Skipets inngang går via sørportalen, som har to halvsøyler, og en innsatt trebue med utskåret dragemotiv øverst i portalen. På 1700-tallet fikk kirken et våpenhus foran sørportalen. Takrytteren er fra 1800-tallet. I 1915 ble det bygd en ny kirke og den gamle kirken ble tatt ut av bruk.
I koret er det avdekt innvielseskors fra 1200-tallet og kalkmalerier av dyr, skip, en soldat og inskripsjoner, antagelig fra 1500-1600-tallet. I 1713-14 dekorerte Thomas Blixius himlingen i koret med bladverk og gallerifronten med blomsterranker. Den timeglass-formede døpefonten er av tre med utskårne ornamenter fra 1600-tallet. Altertavlen er fra 1777 og viser Nattverden og Korsfestelsen flankert av korintiske søylepar. Langs skipets vest- og nordvegg henger en kongerekke med 11 konger malt på midten av 1700-tallet
