Rennebu kirke fra 1669 er en Y-kirke i laftet tømmer med rødmalt panel. Over armenes krysspunkt står en takrytter. Kirken erstattet en stavkirke, og deler fra stavkirken er gjenbrukt. Ved østenden av koret er det senere bygget et sakristi.
Interiøret gjennomgikk en større restaurering i 1948-52. De opprinnelige umalte tømmerveggene ble avdekket, vindusåpningene ble redusert og fikk blyglass, skipet fikk nye lukkede benker og to av armene gallerier. Av eldre inventar er altertavlen fra 1667 med tre etasjer og nattverden og oppstandelsen malt i midtfelteten, flankert av hermer og søylepar. Prekestolen er dekorert med utskårede evangelistfigurer på hjørnene og portalmotiv i hovedfeltene. Fra middelalderkirken er det bevart et krusifiks fra 1200-tallet som henger over koråpningen.
