Oppgangssaga fra Andrå i Ytre Rendalen ble gitt som gave til daværende Norsk Skogbruksmuseum av de daværende eierne, Anne Margrete Ilsaas på Søndre Andrå, Sverre Andrå på Nordre Andrå og firmaet And. H. Kiær & Co., som eide en betydelig del av Andråskogen, i 1963. Saga, som var sterkt råteskadd, ble merket og demontert samme høst. De delene av saghuset som lot seg gjenbruke ble supplert med en del nytt virke og gjenoppført på noe daværende museumsbestyrer Tore Fossum oppfattet som "dens naturlige plass ved Klokkerfossen" i Elverum høsten 1963 og 1964. Bilder fra gjenoppføringsprosessen viser at det blant annet ble lagt nytt virke i svillene, i golvet og takkonstruksjonen, vassrenna og underfallshjulet. Ved Klokkerfossen var anlegget sterkt truet under storflommen i 1995. Etter flommen forsterket museets daværende driftsleder konstruksjonen med betongfundamentert og en del kreosotimpregnert virke. De kreosotimpregnerte ble utskiftet igjen av restaureringshåndverkerne Roald Renmælmo, Morten Pedersen og Arne Pedersen i 2001-2002. Dette ble gjort som ledd i ei planlagt fullrestaurering, som dessverre ikke lot seg fullføre fordi museet i åra som fulgte fikk stadig trangere økonomi.
Da Tore Fossum på vegne av Norsk Skogbruksmuseum fikk overta anlegget fikk han vite at saga opprinnelig hadde hatt et ei enbladet sagramme, men at den omkring midten av 1800-tallet var ombygd til silkesag, som ved overtakelsen hadde sju blad. Det ble sagt at saga ble brukt siste gang i midten av 1920-åra, en opplysning som ble gjentatt overfor Arne Pedersen da han var på befaring på sagtomta i 2001. Saga hadde automatisk frammating, men sagvogna måtte trekkes tilbake for hånd. Anlegget ble brukt til husbehovsskur i Andrå-grenda. Produktrene var planker, bord og takspon.
I "nyere tid" har Andrå dokumentert busetting fra 1500-tallet og framover. I 1665-matrikkelen nevnes det at garden hadde "Qwern, Saugtømmer-Skoug, Fiskerie og Sckiøterie i Almindingen, Sommerbeed i Fleindahlen". Bygdeboka for Ytre Rendal nevner sag ved Ana i 1730-åra med en beskjeden bordproduksjon. I Norsk Skogmuseums arkiv finnes en utskrift av sagmanntallet fra fogderegnskapene fra 1800. Her nevnes Andrå-saga som ei av 31 oppgangssager som skar til lokalt behov i Rendalsbygdene. Denne saga hadde kongelig driftsbevilling datert 17. november 1787, noe som tyder på at den saga som hadde vært i bruk i 1730-åra var borte og nedråtnet, men at bøndene i området hadde søkt og fått løyve til å gjenoppbygge anlegget på dette tidspunktet. Om det anlegget som ble flyttet til Norsk Skogbruksmuseum i 1963-64 kan ha hatt elementer fra gjenoppbygginga i 1787 er usikkert. Konstruksjonen gir få holdepunkter for typologiske dateringsvurderinger, men en dendrokronologisk undersøkelse kan muligens avklare dateringa. Oppgangssagene lå imidlertid i miljøer med stor luftfuktighet sommerstid og mye kjøvende is vinterstid, så det ville ikke være overraskende om ikke mesteparten av virket i det anlegget som befinner seg i Elverum i dag er satt inn i konstruksjonen etter 1787. Tore Fossum har imidlertid ubetinget rett når han skriver i Norsk Skogbruksmuseums 25-årsjubileumsbok (1979) at "Saga er bygget etter samme prinsipp som de første oppgangssagene som kom til landet ca. år 1500. " Et kvernsteinsfunn Bjørn Bækkelund fra Norsk Skogmuseum gjorde i forbindelse med en befaring ved Sagfallet høsten 2009 tyder på at Andrågardenes kvernhus lå på motsatt side av det samme fallet i elva Anda (uttales "Ana" - med stum d).

Fotografiet er tatt fra vest, antakelig fra isen på elva, mot ei av langsidene på saghuset. Vi ser hvordan bygningen er utført i to etasjeplan. Den ytre delen av det nedre planet har en åpen, stolpebåren konstruksjon, mens den øvre består av ei luftig, rektangulær tømerkasse. Oppå dette funamentet er det lagt et par laftete omfar med bygningstømmer, som også tjener som fundament for golvet i saghuset. Oppå de laftete omfarene igjen er det en bærekonstruksjon for raft, røster og tak som består av stolper og skråstivere. Saghuset har bordtekket saltak. I forkant av bygningen ser det ut til at det er lagt en skådam (skjerm) av tømmer parallelt med husets retning. Bygningen er plassert i en elveskråning, omgitt av bjørke- og grantrær.
Fotografiet er tatt høsten 1963, etter at det var bestemt at Andråsaga skulle flyttes til Norsk Skogbruksmuseum i Elverum. Bestyrer Tore Fossum hadde lenge vært opptatt av å skaffe museet ei oppgangssag, og flere anlegg fra ulike steder av landet hadde vært vurdert. At valget falt på Andråsaga kan ha hatt flere årsaker. Den geografiske nærheten innebar både praktiske og økonomiske fordeler i forhold til andre oppgangssager som var med i vurderingene. Et annet forhold som kan ha spilt inn var at museets styreformann, Hans Th. Kiær (1891-1973), gjennom sitt selskap And. H. Kiær & Co. var en av tre eiere av saga. En ulempe ved Andrå-saga var at den var sterkt forfallen og delvis ville måtte rekonstrueres på museet. Dette gjaldt imidlertid flere av de oppgangssagene det var aktuelt å flytte. Tore Fossum tok en del bilder av saga med museets Hasselbladkamera, både i forbindelse med demonteringa i Rendalen og gjenoppbygginga på Norsk Skogbruksmuseum.
