SubjectOppsetting av rekonstruksjon av jordkoie fra Fordalen i Singsås i Norsk Skogbruksmuseums friluftsmuseum på Prestøya i Elverum i 1962. Her er det indre treskjelettet dekt med never, som skuille fungere som fuktsperre, og delvis med torv, som holdt nevra på plass og virket isolerende. Bakgrunnen for dette var at museumsbestyrer Tore Fossum ble invitert til Sør-Trøndelag på befaring sammen med en lokal gardbruker og to skogfunksjonærer. På denne turen kom de forbi ei sammenrast jordkoie, som vakte Fossums interesse for denne bygningstypen. Han ville gjenskape et slikt husvær på museet.
Den sammenraste koia som skulle rekonstrueres hadde en avlang form, og målte cirka 4 X 2 meter. Når man kom inn døra var det en nedgravning (forsenkning) som var cirka 35 centimeter djup. Rommet var ellers delt i to soner, begge om lag 70 centimeter brede. Langs gropkantene på begge sider var det lagt rundkavler, som sannsynligvis skulle forebygge utrasing og gi sitteplasser. I Singsås ble forsenkningene inne i jordkoiene kalt for «aprossa». Over aprossa ble det lagt en halvkløvning, som kunne brukes som bord. På begge langsidene var det sengeplasser og rom for utstyr. Karene lå direkte på bakken, med lyng og bar som underlag.
Skjellettet i koia besto av en bukk med fire bein. Åsen, som bar taket, var kløvd og telgjet til av ei diger tørrfuru. Den nevnte åsen var 233 centimeter lang og 43 centimeter bred. Mot bukken var det reist vegger av kløvd tørrfuru, «gadd», avbrutt av en smal åpning for døra. Mot denne åpningen var det stilt halvkløvninger som var litt kraftigere enn de øvrige, fordi de skulle tjene som dørkarmer. Sjølve døra var en enkel, rektangulær lemkonstruksjon, lagd av to kløvde bord. Den hadde ikke hengsler, men handtak som ble brukt når den skulle løftes til side så beboerne kunne komme inn eller ut. Halvkløvningsveggene hadde også en åpning for grua, vis a vis døra. Ilegget og skorsteinen gikk så å si i ett, for rommet var det trangt. I grua ble det plassert ei slags skjerding, en «kjel-jarnstolpe» som folk sa i Singsås. I jordkoia ble det imidlertid ikke brukt jern i denne innretningen, men heller et tiltelgjet stammestykke med en gjensatt greinstump som kjelehankene kunne henges på. Kjelejarnstolpen gikk i spor oppe og nede, og kunne lett svinges inn over varmen og tilbake. Etter at grua var ferdigmurt, ble det lagt liggende kløvninger over. Utvendig var de beskrevne bærekonstruksjonene dekt med never og torv.
