kors; familiemerke. mitsu mori mon-sen = drei gehaüfte münzen. (watanabe samuraifamilien)
Per Terje Norheim, desember 2021:
Jingasa were used both in war by foot soldiers, and in peace time by both military and civilian people. The name may be translated «camp hat» and it was mainly a protection against the weather, but also gave some protection against weaponry.
This jingasa is round with a rather high crown and a slightly upturned front. It is laquered dark brown on the outside, with four stripes of matted silver going from the brim and meeting at the top.
At the front in gold laquer a heraldic device, mon, showing three circles with square holes in the middle set in a triangle.
The inside is laquered red. The fastening cord is missing.
Comment: The mon, which shows three coins, Zeni, has been ascribed to the Watanabe clan.
