Amerikansk flagg til Bataljon 99, som er navnet brukt i Norge for 99th Infantry Battalion (Separate), opprettet i USA, 10. juli 1942. Flagget var del av utstillingen "Minne frå ein krig", som krigsveteran John Pettersen fra Sylta, Radøy i Alver kommune, var viktig del av. Pettersen var sjømann da krigen brøt ut i 1939, han gikk i land i New York og meldte seg til tjeneste for de allierte styrker. I 1943 ble han innkalt til å delta i Bataljon 99 i det amerikanske forsvaret.
Flagget ble gitt i gave av soldat Eide (ukjent fornavn). Han hadde flagget brettet sammen under uniformsjakken sin hele tiden mens han tjenestegjorde i Bataljon 99. Merker og flekker på flagget er blod eller svette ettersom han bar det på seg i alle kamphandlinger han var med på, fra ilandsettingen i Normandie og like frem til de var i Oslo etter krigen var slutt. Flagget er ikke vasket og flekkene er ivaretatt for å bevare sporene etter alt det har vært igjennom.
