- Nürnbergsvikter, Sverige hade ingen egen produktion av insatsvikter förrän 1760, så importen från Nürnberg var betydande. Det finns endast ca 200 st. tyska kända insatsvikter bevarade i Sverige. Det fanns följade vikter ¼ , ½ , 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, och 32 skålpund. Vanligast är 1 skålpund, men små ¼ skålpund upp till 32 skålpund ( 13,6 kg ) förekommer I Nürnberg fanns över 200 verkstäder som tillverkade vikter från 1600 talet till slutet av 1800 talet. Tillverkarstämpeln gjordes ofta som en vapensköld, och hade ett stort symbolvärde, och stämpeln följde verkstaden, när mästaren dog och verkstaden övertogs av någon släkting, såldes eller vanligare att en gesäll gifte sig med änkan, uppdaterades stämpeln med dennes initialer. Under 1600 talet tillverkades vikterna med bärhandtag, lockbalkarna och låskläpparna i form av sjöhästar eller delfiner. Handtagshållarna som knektar eller sjöjungfrur. Under 1700 talet försvinner bärhandtaget och dekoren inskränkes till svarvränder och ett vackert profilerad låskläpp. I Sverige justerades vikterna alltid av en riksinspektor, med undantag för Göteborg där stadsjusteraren gjord justeringen. Cristoph Schirmer 1656-1690 hade en klocka/kyrkklocka som symbol Jacob Low 1681-1704 son till Sveriges första riksjusterare. Lärde sig justeringskonstens grunder av sin far och var behjälplig vid justeringar i Stora Kopparbergs bergslag J Low erhöll utöver lönen en ansenlig ersättning för att resa omkring i landet för att kontrollera redskapen.
