Vi vet inte med säkerhet vilken typ av kanot detta är, men antar med måtten som utgångspunkt att den är av typ "Laken" eller "Haren". Kanoten är byggd vid Max Anderssons kanotbyggeri i Västerås cirka 1950. År 1974 ägdes den kanot av Frisksportklubben Humlan vid Kaggfjärden och övertogs då av Olle Berg.
Max Andersson föddes 1898 och var 1924 med och bildade Västerås kanotförening. 1927 började han tillverka kanoter och fortsatte sedan i allt större skala till år 1967. Den mest kända modellen var enmanskanoten "Laxen" konstruerad av Karl Widmark 1936. Samma år tog Widmark VM-guld med en kanot av denna typ. "Laxen" och "Laken" var även OS-kanoter 1952. "Laxen" tillverkades fram till 1967 i ungefär 500 ex.
En stor del av Max Anderssons produktion gick på export till bl a USA, Canada och Australien. Mot slutet tillverkades kanoterna av skiktlimmat trä, mahogny, abashi och björk. Tack vare tekniken och de tunna trälagren fick man en kanot som vägde endast 12 kg. När Max Andersson lade ned sin verksamhet 1967 såldes fabriken och tillverkningen upphörde helt. Däremot kom senare nya kanoter, bl a canadensare av fabrikatet Trapper, som många gånger var vidareutvecklingar av Anderssons kanoter. Max Andersson avled 1978.
