Nils R. Tronsmo (1901-1993) var odelsgutt fra Alvdal som som gikk i buntmakerlære hos J. N. Bruun i Trondheim, for på grunn av høysnue kunne han ikke ta over farsgården Øivangen. Faren Rasmus var skredder også, og i 1924 startet sønn og far pelsvareforretningen R. Tronsmo & Søn på Tynset. Men tidene var dårlige, og i 1927 flyttet Nils og forretningen til Kongsvinger. Broren Sigurd kom inn i stedet for faren, og på 30-tallet startet de industriell hanskeproduksjon. Omsetningen gikk godt, og brødrene kjøpte og bygde ut et fabrikklokale i Norskogen øst for jernbanestasjonen. I etterkrigstida økte også omsetningen av pelsvarer, og nytt forretningsbygg ble reist i Glommengata. I 1960-, 70- og 80-årene leverte Tronsmo også paradehansker til den norske OL-troppen.
R. Tronsmo & Søn var en betydelig arbeidsplass i distriktet i mange tiår, særlig for kvinner, og mange av dem sydde hjemme. I 1983 var Tronsmo landets eneste gjenværende hanskefabrikk med rundt ti ansatt, men leverte likevel skihansker til A-landslaget og kombinerttroppen. Bedriften opphørte i 1990-årene, men forble en familiebedrift til det siste med Sigurds sønn Ragnar, faglært hanskemaker. Museet har mottatt samlingen av hansker og gjenstander av familien Tronsmo.
